The art of making half hull models is as old as ship-building itself. They are traditionally handcrafted by ship builders to give three-dimensional shapes to their hull designs. Olin Stevens, the Herreshoffs, Chris Smith (Chris Craft) and many other famous designers used half hulls to help develop their classic winning hull designs.

Skilled craftsmen make our half hull models which are carefully constructed of planked mahogany strips on bulkhead. They are repeatedly sanded. Our hulls are mounted on hand-finished hardwood backboards using spacers between the hull and backboard to accentuate the graceful lines. Some hulls have brightwork finishes below the water line and above the water line, models are finely painted with lustrous marine paints. Each includes a brass nameplate and can be personalized for special occasions.

Half models are wall-mounted on mahogany backboards and have deck details. A brass nameplate is included and can be personalized for special occasions.

You will enjoy the natural wood finish emphasizing the planking of the hull along with the painted portion above the water line.
