She is the most famous and successful of the early United States warships - and the oldest still afloat. Launched in 1797 at Boston harbor, this grand frigate reached her 200th birthday in 1997. She carried 44 guns to defend our young nation at a time when she faced much larger "first rate" British warships with twice the fire power. Our model of her has been so well received, they are usually on backorder. Our version, circa 1812, was at a time when British cannon shot bounced repeatedly off her sides - thus giving her the name "OLD IRONSIDES". Today, she can be seen in all her glory at her berth in Boston.
